Finally !!!! RO/DI installed and making water:) No more hauling water in by the buckets, (this is important stuff for us Senior folk). Only took most of the day, but it has been running for 5 hours now and water going in is reading 131 on the TDS meter and the filtered water so far is coming out at 5 on the TDS meter.

I should get my baffels for the sump monday and after installing them a water test for the tank! Wa-Hoo!

It is a "PureWater Club" Unit. In other words "Generic Brand", but it is a 6 cartridge system with a manual backflow valve, (Came with all the connectors you would need) and it seems to be making about 5 gal every couple of hours. I got it and an extra set of filters and a water line pressure gauge for $120 including shipping. Wayne and I each ordered one at the same time to save on shipping.

Good deal, Norman!

Keep an eye on your TDS... maybe it'll go down some more as it breaks in a bit.

That is so next on my list now that I have no more room for any more tanks that is :P

I'll be getting the RO/DI group order together soon... just taking a little bit of time to recover from the Reeftopia order...

Yes, this has a DI unit, and in fact has an extra cartridge after the DI unit made of Coconut shell carbon to polish the water for better taste, and that cartridge will give elevated TDS readings for a while(not sure how long "a while" is?) It can be bypassed and you will still have ro/di, But since I paid for it, thought I would use it :).

The extra cartridge of carbon is adding stuff back into the water. Check your TDS just after the DI. Also, you should use the DI output for the tank. You can use the output from the final carbon you mentioned for drinking water :)

That is what I thought, but if the TDS goes to zero, than it should be good water for top off, right? It is down to 2 on the TDS meter this morning and was at 4 last night so another day or 2 I would it expect it to drop to zero. If not, I can always put in a "Tee" to bleed off the DI water before the last filter. Thanks Jack

The final carbon filter is to add stuff back to the water for taste. You don't need that stuff in the tank, so I'd just use the DI water for the tank.

Oh,,, OK.... now I get it :) that cartridge is always going to add stuff to the water :( I will fix that this week, and bypass that last cartridge. Thanks

I got one of those type filters and now my tds is showiwng 12 so ..how do I bypass that filter I looked for a shut off valve but don t have one right now is that the best way..thanks mary

I went to Home Depot and got a "Tee" (the small plastic push in connection style) and 2 small push in connection shut off valves and some more pressure line. I installed the Tee after cutting the line between the last 2 filters and run a new line for aquarium use and use the final filter line for drinking water. and both have little plastic shut off valves now. So far working with no leaks and have made 3 55Gallon containers full.

Hope that explaines it good enough, if not let me know

Hey thanks ,,one more question how do you get two lines..oh think I just figured it out run a little tubin from one shut off to the other one..or could I just use one shutt off between those last two filters and use the faucet to run some line to fishes? would that work?? didn t know home depot had those john guest type tee s .
