I love it so much I built a bigger garage for my RO-

:D

I guess that would give you more flushes if you need them WK:lol:

Definitely...I just received my unit from Bulkreefsupply...the 5 step+ and its a great unit. Comes with a digital tds meter..pressure gauge and a very easy install. Either way your better safe then sorry with an ro/di.

Just RO is an option. The DI is less necessary and adds expense. But I use RO/DI myself and like the results.

RO/DI I hesitated just like you from the start but it was the best investment that I have made in this hobby. I got my unit from Bulk Reef supply and it has been great.

Don,t have a place for the unit. I put mine on a piece of plywood and strapped the plywood to a Luggage carrier from a garage sale I paid 1$ for. Roll it out to "make water" (hah) roll it out of the way when I do not need it!

very neat idea --can you post a picture of it--I love diy

I've not ever used RO/DI water in my tank and have had no problems. I've got 0 algae in the tank and have been running city tap water in my reef tank successfully for about 5 years now. My corals look good, fish are active and happy. I think whether or not you need a RO/DI unit is based on the quality of the water coming out of your tap. I live in northern GA and have very low TDS in our tap water according to our local reef club members (although I have never personally measured the TDS out of my tap). I change approximately 10% of my tank water every week straight from the tap (also use seachem prime) and use carbon and Elos Filtra M to clean/remove some of the nastiness in the water. My advice is to find out the quality of your tap water before you go and buy a 100 or 200 dollar RO unit because you may find that you don't even need it. Thats just my two cents from a successful non RO reefer.
