Do I really need one ? Does it remove good things from water.
My phosphate comming into the house are 2.2
TDS comming is under 75 out of reactor is 0
Can I run a pre filter then carbon then what to remove phosphates
I might need to supply more info but this is a start

hkgarI have a reactor and my water is o tds
just wondering if there is anything good in the tap water we are removing
also what part of ro di removes the phosphates

randy thanks for the link will read

There's nothing that you need in your water that's not in your salt mix. So there's nothing in that tap water that you need.

Phosphate will be removed partially by the RO membrane and then the last bit will be removed by the DI resin.

What is this "reactor" are you talking about?

reactor is ro di unit sorry
I might have to pick up a silicate test kit and check water out of ro di
I run 2 di cartridges
just finished reading randys articles
wanted trying to understand how ro di works
poss. i have high silicates going to purchase kit and measure
thank you all for the help

You have 2.2 ppm phosphate in the tap water? That's a fair amount. I think your tank is happier with an RO/DI unit removing that.

Theres chlorine and chloramine in tap water. also lots of minerals that will cause algae blooms. I guess it depends on where you live too. My water is horrible. Also, take a look at your shower glass. All the water spots are impurities that will feed the algae, not your corals.
