RO-DI system ??????

I just bought a tank that was used for salt. I am going with fresh water. Does anyone know anything about this item that came with my tanka nd if it's best for salt of if I should keep it for fresh ? My water comes out the tap as close to perfect as I need. Anyway here is the model it's aqua safe canada reverse osmosis RO-DI here is a pic Thanks in adavance for any helpful info.

Look up in Google about RO/DI systems. It is used for fresh water and takes all sorts of bad chemicals and particles from the water. Keep it. If you don't want it you could ship it to me...; )
 
Have you tested your tap with a TDS meter? If so, what is the reading? That unit with good filters will produce a tds of 0.
 
That's pretty much the standard most of us use to determine water quality. It stands for Total Disolved Solids. Basically it's the amount of garbage in your water.

Well water can be especially high in metals. I wouldn't assume because it tastes good that it's fine for your tank.

My city water is only about 45 tds but I heard many reports of water getting into the 400's & beyond.
