RO/DI unit maint. question?

Just got my unit up and running today and it works great. My question is - After filling my tank I'm only going to need maybe 20 gal every week or two. Is there any issues (bacteria, etc.) with leaving the water set in the filters and only being used as needed?
Thanks again!

Nope. It will be fine.
Did you run about an hours worth of water through it before using the water on your tank?

The membrane and DI resin need to stay damp for best life. Protect the unit from direct sunlight and temperature extremes and you should be OK. If its going to be stored for an extended period (months) manufacturers recommend storing the membrane in a sealed bag in the refrigerator.

I would add that if possible, you should leave the unit hooked up and under pressure. This will help prevent bacteria from entering the unit.

I got mine the other day too. When you say hooked up and under pressure, you mean leaving the water in open and closing the drain and output tubes? I was just shutting mine off from the main water supply in.

I do have an ASOV valve, and the instructions do say just turn off the output, but when I do that it continues to drain out of the waste line.

It shoud drain for a few minutes and then stop. If it does not, then you have a leak someplace (air or water).

The FIRST time you setup the system or after a filter change it could take several hours for the ASOV to work (air must be purged from the system).

Thanks all,
The RO filters stay wet (full) but my concern was with the DI unit that drains, is damp and exposed to air. I have an ASOV so I'll put a valve on the outflow and keep everything under pressure.
Thanks again.
I know if my humidifier unit sits and isn't running 24/7 it gets dank in a hurry.
