RO/DI Unit Opinions please

I need help picking one out also. I don't know the difference between each one. If someone can direct me in the right direction to purchase a good RO unit that would be awesome.

Ok, but whats the difference between each unit because the pricing goes from $100 to $200. I want to know should i get the one thats $200 or will the lower price one work. I have a 72 gallon and do 10% each week.

IMO the first one shown on the link I sent is all you need, unless you are producing RO/DI water commercially.
It comes with everything you need.

A few basics to give you a better handle and what you may get.

A 100 gpd unit usually has less a lower discard rate and a lower percentage filtration rate and may use your DI faster. A 75 gpd unit has a higher discard rate and a higher percentage filtration rate. For your tank, I would suggest the 75 gpd.

As far as the number of filters, even BRS will tell you most systems need only the 4 stage system. The told me, anyway. One sediment filter, one carbon filter, one RO membarne, and one DI. Like this one: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store...tems/75-gpd-ro-di-4-stage-economy-system.html

As to accessories, you don't REALLY need any. BUT, TDS meters and pressure gauges are good for saving money and can actually pay for themselves over time. They will help you determine when it's time to change the filters. Most reccomendations based on time are too drastic, too soon, and IMO are based on dirtier tap water than what we have, and you can usually keep your filters much, much longer. I have 2 in-line TDS meters and a pressure gauge. Wit these in use, my unit has produced hundreds, maybe thousands, of gallons for my 200 gallon system on one set of filters. After 2 years, my water pressure has gone down indicating the need to replace the prefilters, but my TDS says I can still keep my RO membrane and DI.

Having said all that, and with me knowing all that, I went with your original thought, the 75 gpd 5 stage BRS "Plus" system". LOL!!! Have been very happy with it for the last 2 years.

+1, over time you will be glad you purchased a unit with TDS meters and a flush valve. I have dirty water so the extra filters are important to me. Check out the TDS of your tap water, if it is over 300 you may want to opt for the additional filter. I also like to use the duel DI filter, changing out filters less often is worth the price to me.

Thanks SOO much all, Im going for it!!!!

You do that! I just recieved that same unit yesterday and am very pleased with it.

I told my LFS last firday that this will be the last time they see me comming in there buying water from them. Then he said it doesnt matter I'll spend my cash in there one way or another! :twitch:

Have a Buckeye Field Supply 75gpd unit for the last couple years.Have had 0 problems with it and Russ @ BFS is extremely helpful if question arise

I would reccomend the 75gpd system for anyone with a tank less then 150g. I have been using one for my 203g tank for a while but it doesn't make water fast enough for me. I bought the BRS 150gpd upgrade and now I make water twice as fast. I like my BRS RO/DI but in all honestly any will work. I would stay away from units from lowes or home depot as the filters cost $100 to replace. Just look for the one that fits the bill, is within budget, and has filters that are cheap and easy to replace. You will be fine.
