RO/DI Units from EBAY which one?? Pls Help.

Great deals. The CHeaper one seems to come with the parts needed to connect it to the faucet. Thanks for the link.

I purchased mine from eBay years ago (different sellers); there are lots of sellers that offer units, they are basically non brand name, self built, and haven't had problems with these as opposed to much more expensive RO/DI from retail. Almost all of them come with the faucet adapter/saddle valve, etc options for installation.

Is 2 DI really necessary? I know they say it will protect the membranes and extend use... I just wonder. I would go with the cheaper one, that also has the advantage of slightly higher GPH.

I forgot to mention that seller ratings are also something I'd take into account when buying these sorts of things from eBay (since both are volume power sellers with 99%+ FB, I'd say not much difference). I had a minor problem with mine when I purchased it, but the seller was great and responsive, so it was quickly resolved, and the eBay RO/DI experience remained a good one. There's essentially no difference in most of these units from the store brands aside from price, since they aren't tough to assemble with the right parts. Solid butyl tape is used for gasketing joints, never had a problem with leaks.

Check out airwaterice.com or purelyh2o.com. If you insist on looking at what's cheap, try buckeyefieldsupply.com...

But those are all twice as $$, and for usually fewer stages & fewer GPH... not as good a value, IMHO....

Honestly, I will never pay more than $100 for a new RO/DI (the one I have now was $90, 150GPD and 6 stage), not worth it....

I got mine from filtersdirect on ebay almost two years ago, still working great, never had any problems and a very good price.

Me too, except it's only been two months. I love the unit, nothing to compare it to and I'm STILL waiting on my TDS meter (from another seller on ebay) to see exactly how well it's working. A lot of the people on the local board where I'm from use it and are happy with it. The unit itself is made out of high quality parts, it doesn't feel cheap.

Filterdirect's units are Water General. I have had the 6 stage 110gpd unit for a few years now, just replace the filters 2x p/year due to the amount of water I'm consistenly making. Very good. TDS is always at 0.00.

Highly recommend Filterdirect.

Thanks for the input guys.
How can you set these up for a simple auto top off to your sump?
Anyone have any ideas?

thanks again

I was thinking of rigging a TEE off the output & running one for the trash container & the other to the sump.
Are the float valves really reliable?

The float valves will stop the water when the trash can and sump is full, but the RO/DI will still be running. You will need a solenoid valve to turn off the RO/DI unit, otherwise you will still produce waste water. They sell a complete kit.

I went to filtersdirect @ Ebay and was wondering whats the difference between the unit with clear canisters vs the ones with white canisters?
Thanks!

I don't think I'll need the solenoid kit. Since it comes with an automatic shut-off valve. If it we're connected to a float valve the once the container is full it would shut the float valve to a closed position then the automatic shut off valve will kick in & stop producing RO water.
I think this is how its suppose to be??

TDS Meter

TDS Meter

Cheaper is not always better.

Make sure you have TDS meter to measure the output. You should have a reading of 0 and with the E-bay units I could never get a 0 reading. The sellers are great but keep in mind why your buying the RO/DI in the first place. Pick your poisen carefully.

You are correct. The solenoid valve is part of the auto shut-off system. Good Luck
