RO/DI Units from EBAY which one?? Pls Help.

We must be looking at two different Merlins, The one I was speaking about is $399 and looks like a portable unit. The other is a permanent system with tanks and all, but it sure does look nice!

Question?
If I may ask the specs of your system please.
Im asking because 10 gallons per half hour means that your system is producing 480gpd

Thats pretty darn good.
Have you checked the TDS out of the RO?

Bryan Crenshaw

purely, sorry that was a mistake :) Meant 10 gal per hour (and that is give or take, never quite that exact), I calculated wrong. And I do check TDS, it's been 0 for some time now. It is 6 stage. I'm not sure who the manufacturer of the membranes are, I may check with my LFS next time to see if they know.

OK :0)

OK :0)

I literaly mean the water from the RO before the DI. To get the reading you would have to remove the hose that feeds the DI and test that water.

I would just be curious to know as your system even at the 10 gallons per hour is producing 240 GPD and that is pretty darn good too. There are some circumstances where too good is bad :).

How long are your DI filters lasting?

Bryan Crenshaw

Nope, never do that. Do you think I'm overworking the DI? Never heard of anyone who goes that far. I haven't changed the DI, it's been 5 months so far.

PS: You're right on the timing though, LOL. I never really thought about it, to tell the truth, I have a float switch and I just go back to check on it after watching some TV, hehe. I think I overestimated that.

But those are all twice as $$, and for usually fewer stages & fewer GPH... not as good a value, IMHO....

Honestly, I will never pay more than $100 for a new RO/DI (the one I have now was $90, 150GPD and 6 stage), not worth it....

I second the quality from www.airwaterice.com Walter is great and he sells a great product!

They are slightly more expensive but I disagree with you Pandora that it's not as good of a value for these reasons:

Higher GPH means more "dirty" (higher TDS) water is going through the membrane.
Higher TDS through the RO membrane means your DI cartridge expires MUCH more quickly.
How often do you use 150Gal in one day??? It's not practacal unless you're running an LFS or plan on doing waterchanges for you and your 5 closest friends every day.

The 75GPD membrane has a much higher rejection rate (catches a lot more "stuff") and you don't have to change your filters as often.

High GPD != good value or good quality.
You may find a better price, but you won't find better quality or better customer service. Not to mention www.airwaterice.com includes the TDS meter... Just my 2cents...
