Usually the IN side of the dual TDS meter is hooked up between the RO membrane and the DI resin. The OUT side is after the DI resin. If you don't have a handheld TDS meter (they're really cheap) then take a cup of your tap water to the LFS or find someone who does.
Knowing the TDS at the source and after the membrane allows you to tell how efficiently the RO membrane is working and when to replace it.
I dont have a hand held TDS meter. The person I bought it from told me it has been used for around 6-8 month and for less than 500 gallon. I'm gonna test my tap water TDS today.
