RO/DI Waste Water?

I just picked up an AirWaterIce Typhoon III. I've never owned an RO/DI unit before... Is it normal for RO/DI units to produce some waste water (about 4 to 5gal a week) even when the unit is not actively making water?

I don't have that brand but when I turn mine off, I get no extra water. Are you turning it off at the wall or is it set up with an automatic shut off valve?

It has an auto shutoff valve...

once teh pressure builds in the unit the ASO should kick in and no water should be coming out of either product or waste

on that note it may be a poorly made ASO or somtihng and it may be leaking when off.

Sounds like the shut off valve is faulty.

or you do not have enough water pressure to activate the auto-shutoff

I'm pretty sure it's not a lack of water pressure; I have about 60 psi in my house...

I'll need to give Airwaterice a call if it's the shut off valve, then... Thanks a bunch guys...
