RO/DI water

How long will the water keep? I bought 10 gal nine days ago pails have lids on them. I have baught a RO/DI but the float shut off is on back order. Do you have to use warm water this would be $$$$. Iread the thread about puting coiled feed water line in 5 gal bucket with tank heater in the bucket of water.

You will find it will cost more to heat the water than its worth. Heaters are very inefficient. Just live with reduced production or get a second membrane or booster pump.

Water should keep a long time if its in clean protected covered buckets or 5G drinking water bottles and kept out of the elements.

I have 60 lbs water presure during the day and 75-80 lbs at nite due to less consumption due to industry I'm a fireman have to be aware of this when at a hydrant. I calculated the cost of RO/DI water about the same as buying it if you calculate 44 mile trip and the inconvience of not having it on hand . Can purchase it for $2.00 for 5 gal I have 55 gal fresh and 25 reef and soon to start up 75 gal reef . It comes out about the same as purchasing it after you figure changing membrane and filter cartriges. can you get away with going longer than 6 months on cartrige change like vendor says you have to do?

Its not wise to delay filter changes UNLESS, key word unless, you are using the new 0.2 micron absolute rated prefilter and a 0.5 micron carbon block. Take a look at Spectrapures website and read about the bacteria and virus removal capabilities of this new prefilter. I just bought one for testing myself. I plan to run it as long as I can before seeing chlorine breakthrough at the carbon block to see if I can get the full 20,000 gallons out of the carbon.
With your pressure even if you have low water temps you should still get pretty good production. Take a look at the Buckeye Field Supply Sponsors Forum for Russes output calculator, if you know press and temp it will calculate the output. Good stuff.
