Any opinions on brands? Im thinking the barracuda from reef geeks looks like a nice unit with more features for less cash.

Never heard if that one, how much is it?

Buckey field supply
the filter guys
bulk reef supply

All sell quality units for pretty cheap.

You should be able to get a 75 gpd unit with 4 stages for 150ish from the vendors listed above.

You could always add those later if you wanted to start off cheap.

I think i paid $24 for the tds meter and $10 or so for the pressure gauge.

i have had great results from the filter guys 100gpd ro/di 5 stage with auto shutoff pressure gauge, flush kit and inline tds meter ~$199.00

well take note of this also .i have seen a tread here on RC that a company is now just finishing development of a waist-less ro di unit that can make approx 5000gpd .pretty much as fast as your water runs its 100% filtered .they claim that they are using pharmaceutical filters that are very expensive but are now in the process of striking deals with the manufacturers to reduce the overall cost per unit . search it out and see what you think .i will try to find the link and will post it asap

ok its called "new filter technology that will change everything !!!!!" check the tread out .i dont know how to link it here ,wish i could be taught .

I bought all mine from thefilterguys. Two things to note, make sure you have good water pressure(even with city water mine was less that 40) You might need a booster pump.

Also TFG sells an addon membrane that will reduce your waste from 4to1 to about 2 and sometimes 1.

Temperature outside also effects the amount you can make. Right now on my 75Gln it takes 15 minutes longer to make 5 gallons as it does in the summer
