Ro/di

I am overwhelmed with the ro/di system. I ran about 75 gallons through it and then my meter started showing red. I changed sediment, carbon & di resin and it did not go back to green. I assumed there was something wrong with the tds meter and keep running water, but I'm sure it isn't clean because I cannot get rid of the algaes in tank, although regular maintainance has reduced them.

Why wouldn't the water be clean after changing all the filters?

How often do you change your filters and which ones?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. I need to get a handle on what to do to make the water work or I need to get out of the hobby.

I change the sediment filter about once a month and the carbon about every 3 months. I've only changed the DI resin one in the year that i've had the RODI unit.

I have a TDS meter here if you want to bring a sample by sometime. Bring a sample of both your tap and your RODI water, so we can get an idea of how much the filter is actually removing.

How old is the unit? Is it possible that the filters were not installed correctly and that water is somehow getting around the filter without going through it?

also how old Is the RO membrane?

Diane , I second that about , how old is the membrane ? As far as algae go , what is your PO4 level ? Ted

I put 20 Astrea snails in my tank and they are doing an amazing job. John always has them.
