Ok its time to buy something to make my own water, I am tired of driving 45 mins one way to get five gallons of water. I also use distilled sometimes but eitherway I would like to have a constant supply at home. only a 34 gal which I change 10 to 15% (3 to 5 gals a week) lookin for not the cheapest or most expensive, mid-grade? what do you guys like or suggest thanks

two suggestions, a quality used one like typhoons from air, water, and ice or even new like bulk reef supply units (has everything good i see in a unit and is decently priced)!

I recommend (from personal experience) to stay away from cheap e-bay units and kent marines/coralife because of quality and ease of use. hope that helps Wiz

Got my reefkeeper unit from Air Water & Ice about 4 years ago and it was one of the best things I brought. You will be so happy when you get one. AWI has always quickly answered my emails when I had questions about the unit or what filters to buy. Don't forget to buy the faucet adapter if that is the water sourse you will be using. Might even suggest you buy one when you order.

Doesnt look like this filter has a carbon block or a sediment filter. If thats the case , you will go through RO cartridges fast. And their not cheap.

For about the same money you could buy this unit and save a lot of money in the long run.

i have the 75gpd version of this system and am very happy with it. came with a handheld tds meter and everything i needed to get started.

It looks like the two canisters on top are the sediment and carbon filter. Their kind of small. $109.00. I personally would would spend a little more for the Compact or the Compact III if your wallet will allow. Also make sure of the water presure that you will be feeding the RO unit. Around 60 psi is needed for efficiency, longer membrane life, and production. Well water will usually not provide this amount of presure. If low presure is involved, a booster pump will be required. I got mine from Fixyurwater on Ebay. Aquatec 8800 for a 180 GPD. 75 GPD units will run fine on a Aquatec 6600 for less money. The 8800 is a $300.00 pump for $110.00 ($95.00 + 15.00 S&H) This is a popular pump for RO units. If you do not have enough presure, the membrane will get clogged sooner.
