RO filter

My TDS is high 76 coming out of my membrane. I tried flushing and after 20 minutes it goes down to 20. So I need a membrane. Is there a place local that sells them for a good price ? Would a boost pump make my ro filters last longer ?

What is the tds going into the membrane? And what is the rejection rate for the membrane you have? If the rejection rate is higher than what you are getting. Then replace assuming you are giving it the right amount of water pressure.

As long as I have 40psi I'm usually happy.

What area are you located in? I have bought a membrane before at strictly fish

Johnny its called efficiency rate. ...take the out coming and devide it by the incoming and you will get the rejecrion rate which should be around 98% depending on your membrane so anything under 2% is working correctly with the rejection rate

Example 3 coming iut 178 coming in thats .0168 which is within range

Aqua FX recomends to change the membrane when less than 90% reduction rate is happening. You are just over that number which should be 16.5 in your case.

Actually you should change it anytime its out of range weather its a .5% or 1% or 8% which they are recommending if I am reading this correct otherwise you are just depleting your DI at a faster than you need to rate which = inefficiency

Most DOW membranes have a 98% rejection rate so if its more than 2% = change it............. don't wait for it to be another 6% out of range

Agree with you. I rather not take a chance in order to save a couple of bucks. It's not like it needs changing every month. Not with my current system anyways. Now if you are like Matt and have a small ocean in his house that might be a whole different story. Lol.
