RO leaking

A friend of mine has observed some really strange problem where the waste line getting frequent clog, every 2 weeks she would get puddle of water leaking from the faucet/inline because ro waste is all plug up with black algae type of gunk.
The waste is saddled onto the drain pipe, so every week she would have to clean the waste line to prevent flooding. Do you think there is something backing up to the waste as any sludge should be filtered out by the sediment and RO membrane.

If it were me I would get rid of the saddle valve, they only pierce the pipe.
If it's a pvc drain a 1/4" hole for the hose with a connection would do.
Metal pipe would have to be drilled for a fitting.
