Ro membrane question.

So I changed out all the filters and membrane on my rodi system. Then of course I read the directions after running it. The directions say that I should have flushed the carbon block before placing the membrane. Will the carbon dust cause damage to the membrane?

I am far from an expert, but i'm guessing it may clog the membrane?
Don't really know though, if it's a spectrapure, ask in their forum, great people.
Are you able to do a fast flush to clean the membrane?
You can buy a flush kit for like $15 or build your own for about the same price.
Or, you can just remove the flow restrictor and let her rip for 30 seconds.

We instruct people to rinse carbon blocks in place before letting the water go on to the membrane. If you do this you'll notice that the water that first comes off the block is visibly darker than water. It's good practice. Many (most?) vendors don't tell their customs to do this. So bottom line is that you didn't ruin the membrane, but it would have been better if you read the instructions first!

I made the same mistake recently. Water is still coming fine but I expect it reduced the life of the membrane.

Hehe who reads instruction right LOL. I'm trying to be more patient and slow my roll, it's a work in progress. Thanks for the response though buckeye; brings me peace of mind.
