RO pressure tank lost pressure

I've been having fun with my RO system not producing good low tds water. I finally figured out the issue.
The most obvious isue was an old fouled membrane.
The second issue I discovered when I went to drain my pressure tank. I couldn't get all the water out. So, I used a bicycle pump and put a few pumps on the air valve at the bottom of the tank. Apparently my pressure tank lost its air pressure. With just a few pumps the entire pump drained no problem. I also now have much better pressure for using the stored water.

Yup, I did this exact same thing yesterday. If the tank doesn't fully empty, pump it up until it does. Around 4 psi on mine.

I need to pick up a small scale pressure gauge. The digital car tire one I have reported 40psi or something ridiculous like that, while the one built in to my hand pump barely registered.

But wow, what a huge difference. Big-time DURR on my part.

Mine isn't very accurate at that low range either. Just put water in it, then pump it up until all the water comes out.
