RO... RODI... any descernable difference?

hey guys,
so my system is about to have its one year anniversary in the next couple of weeks. along the way i've had the normal small issues most tanks experience in their adolescent stages but overall i've been very careful and meticulous in its care.
flash forward to today and my system has been very stable but one thing that my system never seemed to conquer is a modest gha issue and now an increasing issue with cyano.
when i first purchased my equipment i was sold on a simple 2 filter RO system to make my water that served its purpose but didn't include a tds meter. it's time to replace my carbon block and membrane and left me curious if adding a de-ionization stage would yield me noticeably better results?

ro only = will allow some tds through....the little it lets through may be harmless or not. whoever sold you on ro only was wrong.....

i guess the question that remains is if the little bit of tds that is getting through might be affecting my phos levels and showing up in the form of the gha i've never managed to rid myself of. either way, i think today is the day i go christmas shop for a new rodi system for myself.

It may be harmless, but I would also be worried about lead, copper, and chloramines leaking through. May want to dose with a little of Prime. Just a thought.

It totally depends on your source water. If your tds out of your ro is very low then you probably don't need to add in the DI. I live in a loft building that has well water and they filter the water pretty well before it reaches my loft. My tds out of the tap is around 25 and it comes out about 3-4 reading on TDS after the RO. I still get it down to zero by using DI stage. I could probably get away without DI but I already have it so might as well use it. When I live in a house my starting TDS was 350 and after RO was around 30-40 range so needed the DI to get it down to zero.
