RO System

Hello,
I wanted to see if this RO system that came with my water softener under my kitchen sink (with its own faucet) would work as my RO/DI system for my 90 gallon tank ? I bought a TDS-3 meter from BRS and I'm getting a 3pp reading out of the RO faucet and 150pp out of the regular facet. Its not quite 0pp like everyone says it needs to be. The system is 6 months old and Im thinking of changing the filter and carbon to see if I can get the 0pp. We do use the RO system on a daily basis when making tea, kolaid and drinking water for the kids. If I were to use the the BRS filters and carbon would we still be able to us as drinking water and etc? I only ask because I see lots of people with RO systems just for Aquarium water. :-)

Thanks in advance MIke

The prefilters and RO part seem to work great. You are getting a 98% reduction in TDS. An RO system can basically never get to zero TDS without adding a DI.

If you want zero TDS, simply put in a tee with one line to your drinking system and the other line to a DI cartridge.

Would I be ok to start off my 90 gallon tank with 3pp water? I would like to start the cycling process soon. Also is there a TDS range to stay between or is it a MUST to be @ 0pp?

It depends on what the 3ppm is, so it's really impossible to say. It's probably ok, but who knows...I would probably add the 20$ in-line DI cartridge.

+1.
You got lucky by already having the RO system. Get the DI cartridge..
Why risk all the issues arising from poor water quality when $20 will make it right?

yes get the DI addon stage and plump it on a T at the output of the RO stage
Cost a little over $50 all together and you would have perfect water for the tank..

You want to make sure you get the "T" (or Y) and the check valve and plumb it as shown here..so you aren't using the DI output water for drinking..

as stated you are more than likely fine as is.. but no one knows what that remaining 3 TDS is..
choice is yours.. risk it (and probably be fine) or spend the little extra and sleep better..
