Road Trip??

Hey peeps... looks like I will be able to go. I can also lend the use of my truck since it is a full size extended cab for a bit more leg room. I can fit 5 and get approx 15mpg with that beast. All I ask is that whomever is driving (I magine we will switch off) - be fully insured and not under the influence. (yes, that means you too Paul - no sniffing the SPS!)

Lets get the logistics worked out - a good starting point:
Departure time/location
Directions/locations we are hitting and approximately when
Storage for our 'goods' to be sold and where things will go when we come back (including livestock)
Any allergies/food issues /other BS that should be considered. (Oh you KNOW what I am talking about... tacos, yeah right!)

I have 'Sheila', my portable GPS to help us find stuff - but if anyone has a local contact, that would be great too.

Well, drive time to Ventura should be no more than 6 hours. So we have to leave no later than 5-6 am from Sacramento. I'm glad that your truck is a bit bigger than mine and so you're quite welcome to provide the vehicle. The rest of us can split the gas money, right guys?

John and I live in Elk Grove, real close to each other, so if you guys could make a stop in EG to grab us, we can arrange to both be at the same location.

I'm alergic to Paul's smelly @ss after tacos, but nothing else.

Fully insured and willing to drive as much as you need/want.

I have a whole mess of 20 gallon BRUTEs with lids and a few spare powerheads that we can take with saltwater if needed for storage. Anyone have an inverter that we could plug heaters/power heads into?

So, Looking at the Swap is this a typical frag swap? Seems a little diffrent, no?

I was just going to bring like a Toadspool with 3 heads a single toadspool a bright green mushroom a red mushroom with blue dots a head of brown frogspawn.

Is this ok>?

My understanding its not a frag swap per se - more like a swap meet. You bring a bunch of stuff, trade/buy/sell/etc. So I'd imagine we would have a table to use to display our crap to sell, and then tour the facility looking at other crap we want to have.

This is all second hand, but I think Paul has been in touch with them and can give us a bit more details on what we are being provided (tables/chairs/etc.) and what we will need to bring.

I just shot off a PM to the guy in charge. I'll post his response, but after reading the thread again, I think you're right on.

I have a trailer if we need/want one. I know you, Paul and I have been know to buy large aquariums on a whim... ;)

What GREAT news!!! Glad you're going Mike!!!! I too have the same allergy that Pete has. I have an inverter to plug into the cigarette lighter. I say 4:00 a.m. departure. @ stops before and maybe a stop after the swap. Gonna be a great time.....Steve-O, you're missing out!!

Ok, Well still sounds fun even though a little diffrent than i thought.

I did have an OR6500 to sale/trade but looks like it is goijng to be sold. Other than that, I have no hardware. I sell stuff pretty fast when i am done with it:)

Oh, I am also under the impression this is a hardcore one day event - meaning we are flying down there Saturday, and coming back Saturday night.

If this is the case, simple coolers with heating pockets, etc. might work well for the livestock. I would be hesitant on setting up a full on temp storage with moving water in the truck. heheh, that sure brings back memories, eh Paul?

Are you guys concerned at all about frags out of the tank for 18 hours? I've never dealt with shipping or any other transport that takes that long, except the green slimer I got a few meetings back that never made it come due to death by small quantities of cold water. <-- no digg Paul

Wow.. When Mike talks to me on the phone then types everything I just said to him he sounds like a genius :D It is a swap meet type of format and we will need heat packs. We won't be making any stops before the meet but will certainly make some after. As for corals in containers for 18 hours, they spend like 2 days when they are shipped so they will be fine. The slimer died the second it saw your water conditions Pete. I am surprised it didn't jump out of the car on your way home when it realized where it was going. God knows the rest of us would have :)

Mike, can Rafael sit on Paul's lap, in the middle of the backseat?

;)

Pete, only you would act out your fantasies like this in public. BTW... I will be sitting in the front seat so that won't be possible...

SHOTGUN!!!!
