Rock filtration calculation for a new tank...

I'm planning on starting a 70G RR tank with a sump. I know the preferred amount of LR is between 1.5lbs to 2.0lbs per gallon. In order to reduce my startup expenses, I'm thinking about buying some dry rock (like the ones from reefer rock). Now, when doing my weight to water ratio calculation, should I count the dry rock as LR or should I count it separately in order to try to get more bacteria to start?

You would count the dry rock as live rock.

Having said that, you can get by with less than 1.5 to 2 lbs per gallon. It really depends on the type of rock and your aquascaping.

I have ~100lbs in my 110g tank.

i would count it too. just dont stock too heavy till the base rock has a chance to become "live", and maybe do half base in your final number, llike 50lbs base 50lbs live, not 95lbs base 5lbs live, their maybe a recommended ratio but im not sure

2 pounds of rock per gallon will really fill up a tank, so unless you love that rock wall look, I'd try to get by with less.
Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the suggestion. The person selling the base claims it's 100lbs and I'll probably get it and see what parts of it I can use. I won't have a good gauge of how much it actually is until I see it in person though...
