Rock n Reef?

I believe so. I was in the area a few weeks ago And figured I'd check it out...I walked in & walked right back out.:eek2:

I wonder if they are throwing in the towel for good.

What will they do with all their dry good inventory?

How cool would it be if they sold it at their cost to just dump it.

Yeah, that's the new Rockin' Reef. I think he realized that a lot of people liked Tom and was upset about the business being moved, so wanted to just start fresh with his own look.

There in the plaza behind the tabacco spot.they were getting harrassed by the city of largo and they were asking for alot of money, but thats what the owner said..anyway pretty excited about the new shop thats opening up.

I stopped in and checked this store out today. They are still setting up so not a lot to say about stocking. The dry goods section was small but tidy. All employees were very nice and attentive they didn't have the 2 things I asked about but wrote them down and said they would try getting it in (Red Sea Pro salt and Oster feast not that Dr. G's cap either). I asked about coral stocking plans and they said a little of everything so we shall see. I hope this store does well its only 15 min away...lol..side note they said they were not affiliated with Rockin Reef in any way which for me was great news. I just thought I would share.

If its the same owner who bought it then how is he not affiliated?

The owner that i meet today was deff not the old owner of Rockin Reef. The name of the store is A tropical fish or something like that. i asked him point blank and he said no so hopefully thats the case.

I've been up there a few times and so far I have nothing negative to say about them. Just as Harvard said not much live stock but that's to be expected from a new store. The owner(who's name I can't remember) seems like a really cool guy. I too asked him straight up the first time I went there if they were affiliated with RR in any way and he said he was not. I hope they do well too. When I was up there last weekend he did say business is starting to pickup a bit so hopefully it goes well for him. I've become quite biased towards SPS so I expressed alot of interest in getting a good selection of SPS coral but I'm sure he will have a little bit of everything.

My wife works at the doggy grooming place a few doors down from here... The owner of the place she works for has talked with the owner of A-Tropical quite a bit and has informed me whats going on here that I confirmed the other day with the owner myself... He purchased everything that was left over from the new relocated Rockin Reef and has NOTHING to do with him at all. He decided not to keep the name Rockin Reef mostly in respect to what Tom used to have the old store as also as well as the fact that the last owner ran the name into the ground. I directed him to these forums and told him he should be active on here and try to host some events because he seems like a really cool guy for the 40+ minutes I was in there bsing with him. He also said he would be more than happy to take requests for anything he did not carry in the store for a special order.
Looks very promising so far and it's close for a lot of us mid county guys since most of the stores here are mostly freshwater with some saltwater.
