Referencing old school "rules", they are made to be broken, literally. As the hobby advances, we are constantly pushing the envelope.
I remember when I first started, a successful reef was basically one that died slower than everyone else. ....And I thought I was cutting edge with my airstone skimmer. The rule of the day then was fish and reefs didn't mix well.
Assuming advances keep coming, in 10-15 yrs I am sure we will all marvel out how we keep anything alive today.
