Rock scaping question

not all...most though.

I like little sand and little rock. Gives more space for growing and fish to swim. I like big fish though that need the room.
 
my 120 is bare bottom, I like the idea...not the look. I can for see it having sand one day down the road though.
 
I even had to put sand in my frag tank. Bare bottom definitely has its advantages but to me, the look of sand is irresistible.

Referencing old school "rules", they are made to be broken, literally. As the hobby advances, we are constantly pushing the envelope.

I remember when I first started, a successful reef was basically one that died slower than everyone else. ....And I thought I was cutting edge with my airstone skimmer. The rule of the day then was fish and reefs didn't mix well.

Assuming advances keep coming, in 10-15 yrs I am sure we will all marvel out how we keep anything alive today.
 
I remember running a diatom on my old tank and having diatomacious media on the tank bottom.....I still have the diatom in the garage....
 
Yeah, just look at how far skimmers have come today, we're onto the cone phase now. I remember back when... my under gravel filter got a upgrade with the addition of the amazing skillter 250! That was high tech for 93.

I get home late tomorrow night, but if you would like to come down to my house on Friday I have some dried pieces of rock you might want to use in your tank. It looks like a good start you have going there. Large flat pieces of live rock for SPS would look awesome in that tank. JMHO.

Assuming HR 669 goes away. Looks like Congress is trying to ban live rock, snails, and corals again, along with lots of other non-saltwater pets.
 
My second attempt. The top rock on the right actually extends out about 3 inches..

I just wanted to thank everyone for their insight, criticisms, and help with my minor dilemma...
I'll post more pictures when I decide on a final scape...
 
Thanks johndawg. I might take the rock on the right and lay it flat (for sps). I'm still a while away from putting water in the tank though. I'm doing a DIY MH light for it and it's taking forever... I'll post a couple of pictures when its done...
