RoDI or just RO?

I curerntly use an RO system for my tanks top off water and also my drinking water. It's just RO, what exactly am I missing by not using a DI filter?

Di will take the DTS to 0.. Ro water never gets below 5 even with brand new filters

What type of solids are missed through the RO filter? My tank seems to be doing great, just that I saw a DI addon kit MD has on sale right now for $50.

The only thing about DI is you have to make sure you buffer it or add kalk (which is kinda buffing it yah?)

I've read posts from Calfo that you should always buffer RO/DI. I am wondering if adding a DI filter to my RO filtration will just be a bigger headache in that I would have to now buffer my water.

he really does not talk about buffering the water in that thread.. he just says to do it and to go to another online group to see how.. so long as you have a stable tank ( as i have almost 400 gallons) a few gallons of rodi water should not hurt you. The person in that thread eventaully emoved the dsb and his tank perked up....

i have my tank hooked up to my rodi unit for ato... never had any problems with PH...

Oh yeah...I know that wasnt that guy's main problem, it was just a suggestion from Calfo. I dont buffer my water either, but again, it's only DI. I'm sure the chemistry forum could provide more insightful answers
