i'm kinda surprise we have 3 respondents already that uses tap. i wont even use tap for my QT tank.
I use RO/DI on my reef tank so it would be silly to not use it for my FOWLR. But even if I did not have the reef tank, I would still use RO/DI. It just eliminates additional stuff from the water that I don't need.

Like what? Have you tested your tap water? I find it really interesting that SO many people blindly follow the RODI trend without any necessity or evidence of necessity. I can tell you short of chlorine/chloramine which cost me about $.10 per water change to eliminate my water was 0/0/0, no copper, and such little phosphate that my fuge with chaeto easily took care of it. I even had a bunch of sponge/coralline growing.
Don't get me wrong, I use RODI in my Reef, but unless you are using untreated well water I think RODI is completely unnecessary in a FOWLR tank.
I know what my Tds comes out of the tap at. I know what comes out of RODI unit. You want to use tap water go ahead. I chose to use RODI. You can argue all you want. But there is no reasonable argument over my opinion. Note I was not saying that you were wring either. Also not saying you are right. I do not blindly follow and it is certainly not a trend. I am also not sure why you are so vehementy opposed o RODI in a FOLWR.

How many of you do not use rodi water in their fowlr system.Getting ready to set up my 220 again after 3 years out of the hobby.
I just want to see some concrete evidence that what is coming out of your tap is harmful to fish. I understand that certain things in the tap water are harmful to inverts, but fish are a different story.
