RODI question.

Does cold water make the unit less effective? Right now I have it attached to the Y on cold side in laundry room and I am getting @ .25ppm po4/5. Should I connect to hot, leave on cold or Y hot and cold to get warm water? Its a new unit and have ran @ 50 + gallons thru it but not getting 0 readings.

Cold water will reduce production rate, but will not affect TDS readings. Do not use hot water.

Don't connect it to hot! Hot water will ruin the membrane. I wouldn't even try to connect it to warm, if the mix gets away from you, again your membrane will be ruined.

Cold source water will cause your unit to produce less in terms of GPH, it shouldn't really affect the output TDS. If your DI columns are working properly, you should have 0 TDS after DI.

Edit to add...
Misled beat me to it, LOL!

Water temp affects the permeability and therefor the efficiency of the unit Unless you have some kind of control you shouldn't use the hot water tap. I take about 200ft of 1/4" tubing and coil it up in the bottom of my holding tank to warm up the incoming water for the RODI unit and I use a unit with a booster pump. These things will increase your units overall effectiveness.

Higher temperatures will decrease the membrane rejection rate.

If you choose to run your feedwater through a coil of tubing in a warm water bath, realize that you'll start to lose pressure once you exceed about 20 feet of 1/4" tubing.
