RODI + Silicate + Nitrate removal

Hi,
I placed a section of this message on a previous post before, so please forgive the repetition .... I just need some additional advice !!!

I just moved 9 months ago to Greensboro, North Carolina from Orlando, Florida. In Orlando I had a 65 gallon reef , but had to break it down because of the move .
Whithin the next 6 months to a year I plan to build a 180 gallons reef tank. However I couldn't stand it any more to be in a house with out a reef. So for the mean time, I decided to put together a 24 gallons nano cube, and when I fix my 180 gallon tank, then I will use the nano cube as a quarantine tank.

In my old system, I used a SPECTRAPURE MPDI - 25 (http://www.spectrapure.com/St_osmo_p1.htm). My local vendor assure me that was the best of the best ( and I believe that SPECTRAPURE is probably the best company out there). However, what i did not like about that RODI system was that it did not had a Pressure and TDS meter, the throughput was very slow, and although I was changing the filters regularly, my portable TDS meter was reading "5".

I am thinking on investing on another RODI system that has a Pressure gage and TDS meter. A system that I can use for my 24 gallon system, and later on my 180 gallons system. Now in Greensboro, most of the houses including mine have a private well water . So I will test the water before I make my decision (water tested ok when we moved in the house).

After some resarch and great advice from all of you, I decided to go with the AIR, WATER, & ICE - TYPHOON III system (http://airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOONIII).

Do you recomend a silicate removal system after or before the RODI system ?

Also, any recomendation on a good Nitrate removal system ?
Also, it will be great if it is very quiet .... I can stand the wife complaining about noise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again if I purchase the new units, I plan to use them on the new 24 gallon system and later on my new 180 gallon system.

Please forgive the long message and I thank you in advance!

I've never heard of a noisy RO-DI system.

What kind of silicate remover are you considering? The DI phase should be capable of removing silica missed by the RO.

I haven't heard of any nitrate removal systems, but, again, RO-DI should remove it.

not sure if your talking about nitrate removal systems on a rodi filter as i never heard of them before either. but other ways of removing nitrate are water changes, a fuge with some macro alage (chaeto), and a nitrate redutor.

Thanks guys,

I wasn't sure if the RODI will remove silicates, so I stand corrected!

As far as the nitrate removal system, the folks from live aquaria.com suggested a small quiet cannister filter with (Di-nitrate) medium.

Thanks again,
