RODI unit growing algae

So I've noticed that my rodi unit is starting to grow algae, could this make an algae bloom occur? Should I replace it or let it go uploadfromtaptalk1397684433229.jpg

That won't cause algae in your tank directly, the algae in that filter can't get past the RO membrane.

But yeah, that needs to be changed right now.

Some kind of light is hitting it. You wouldn't have algae if light was not getting to it. I would cover it with a cloth and rubberband to hold it over the canister.

Yeah I would change it asap that will kill the life of your membrane. So consider finding a place inside for the unit. If there's no place for it inside consider making a cover for it so no light hits the unit at all.

I would change out the carbon section also.

As stated change the filters asap and keep light away from it. I knew someone that had a unit in direct sunlight and built a box for it to avoid this kind of issue.
