RODI waste water line

So I just moved into my new house in October, Im trying to figure out how to install the rodi unit in my furnace area rather than hauling it up stairs to sink each time. I can use a saddle valve off of the cold water line and have power for booster pump but don't know what to do with my waste line. Unfortunately there is no drain or sink etc in my basement where the unit will be setup.

I was thinking running outside right into the gutter drain. Any ideas ? Is there a way to tie it back into the water system in the house?

The waste water is not under pressure really, so you will have troubles routing it too far, up long distances etc. also, back into the house water lines is definately out of the question. Into the gutter is fine, but will freeze and create a dam or other problems this time of year. You could setup a mini leaching setup underground with a bucket, some gravel etc, and run an insulated pipe up the wall to inside where you can direct your waste line into it.

Just tap inot sewer drain. That's what I did. Or you can put the waste water in a brute garbage can.

Mine is also in the basement off of my water heater. Luckily, close by was the runoff drain for the washing machine and I dump the waste water there. Any chance you have that nearby?

thanks for everyones input. Gonna see if I can find away to tap into the waste drain. Wasn't even thinking about the cold weather and freezing up in the gutter drain. Duh..haha

Ari21, how did you tap into the sewer drain, may be an option ? any chance you got a pic ?

I tapped mine into a sewer drain in my last house. Worked fine. I got one of those tapping tools from HD and just drilled a hole in the pipe and threaded it for a small fitting. Tap is long misplaced otherwise I'd have lent it to you. Bet somebody here has a tap you could borrow (small ones are relatively cheap, though it's likely to be a one use tool which is why I cannot find mine anymore).

Rich, I have a booster pump on my unit so waste water has a ton of pressure to travel quite a way. They make sleeves to easily drill into a drain line and not have to worry about back leakage of waste or vapors. I will text you some pics, of mine

There is a Y connected with a screw on cap that was already there so I drilled into the top of the cap and threaded in a fitting and added silicone just to be safe.

you DO know that you can use the water for just about anything, INCLUDING drinking water as it is better filtered than ANY sink installed filter..... only thing it is NOT is DI so why not NOT waste it.... I have a water cooler tank I fill and use for drinking, Laundry and well, just putting it out there to waste not want not.... at 3:1 ratio that is kind of a LOT of water to just WASTE.... Just my 2c

But doesn't the waste water have impurities.

not to mention the RO.... Reverse osmosis filtration is I would guess at LEAST 5 times better than the BEST Brita or Pur fiter setup.. Having worked on sailboats years ago I came across an RO unit that filtered SEA water into drinking water even AVIAN would covet and made Poland spring look like raw sewage... NEVER underestimate RO !!!

Mine is in furnace room as well. I run it right trough the wall. I does freeze when not in use. Before i use it i pull it in, turn on the water and just bend the tube in different places untill the ice shoots out. Happens in like 30 seconds. Then i push it back through the hole and it wont freeze while in use. I make 55 gallons at a time.

It has been run through sediment and carbon filters, so as stated, better than most sink installed filters.

If it has runs threw the filters than cant I use it on my tank? My system has a sediment filter, carbon block, and membrane.
