Rod's Onyx Clowns

I've been looking at some pics of Rod's Onyx Clowns. I really want a pair and was wondering if they're still available. Rod only has food on his site.

Also I was wondering if they would be likely to host in an RBTA. My friend has one in his tank that has split like 5 or 6 times and he has a couple of beautiful easily accessible specimens in his tank any of which he said I could have. Also I was wondering if everyone has the problem of color fading in their clowns while they're hosting in an RBTA.

Thanks

oceans gallery had some for sale. I have 2 coming next week.

Do they have a website? I'm in Louisiana and no doubt will have to have them shipped.

Anyone responding to this thread please list websites.

Thanx

I order some and all arrived DOA . Premium Aquatics is sending me new ones next week. I have to say their are very small to be mailed out. I would say a few weeks old. very sad about this.

I have a thread about my onyx clowns from another breeder in the Chicagoland area. They are from Booyah's Reef. They also make sure to wait a few months to see the beginning of coloration so you don't get a tiny fish that will get lost in your tank. SN on here is Kerusso316. PM him and you'll get good fish for sure!

see above post.....Booyah's reef has clownfish from the same line of genetics as Rod's Onyx. IMO at least equal in quality, and they aren't sold at just a few weeks old either. Nothing against Rod, but you get to see more of what your clownfish will end up looking like.

Appreciate the info but how about you give me a link seeing as I can't find a Booyah's reef anywhere on the web.

As for the question about fading. From what I have heard all black and white clownfish fade in bta's, or if they are young enough they just don' develop the black.

I'm not sure that is the case with all Onyx clowns. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with the fading. I know some have had fading with their clowns in RBTA's but I've also seen tons of pics of Onyx pairs in RBTA's with full coloration. I was just wondering if its a given that this will happen or is it an anomaly?

Thanks man. I'm not entirely certain where my LFS orders from. Feel free to post some pics here if you want to. I'd love to see what they look like. I absolutely love Rod's clowns but I'm open to seeing what else is out there.

well feel free to correct me if im wrong but i beleave Rods came from C-Quest

You probably know better than me. I haven't the foggiest idea. I'll let you know if I'm interested. Post those pics when you get them.

I'm just down the road a bit from them, and I picked them up for $90 for the pair. They were about 9 mo. old when I got them, and I really need to update the pics as they are getting really dark now.

Premium Aquatics has them. At least from what I was told before the "L-R-Onyx" is the Rod's Onyx.

I had decided to finally step up and call Rod to order some clowns like the day that Rod decided that he was no longer going to sell them. I have been kicking myself every since for not calling a few days earlier.

Thank you so much for pointing me to an alternative source. I just ordered 6. I'll post pictures when they arrive.

Thanks again,

William
