Look what my local dealer got in Friday. These are not for sale, just for his display tank.

Wow, that's nice. This is exactly what I want to do with my 75g clownfish/bta tank. Thanks for the photos. Would like to see how these develop about 3 months from now.

I just tuned in to this thread and all I gotta say is I need a pair these clowns. Simply beautiful. Hopefully I can make to his store some time this week just to see what it's all about. Maybe he will have something neat that I just have to have:)

You are so lucky that you live nearby and can see them first hand. I'm sure it will be well worth your trip and you don't have to pay any s/h/i that we all do.

I have several LFS nearby. Most of them have great owners and selections.

i had another green that was dooing really poorly but they hosted that with pleasure it looked almost the same and they looked for it all over when it died and i had to take it away :(

her is the male in the old carpet only difference is the old one was bigger and less sticky

i want to take away all the frogspawns and hammers they wont ditch them but the lights on my other tank suck and i am waiting for aquatinics to release a 24inch fixture

on a bright note i am switching from aquamedic oceanlight hammertone reflectors to reefoptix 3 that i gotoday so the anemone should enjoy twice as much light :)

My pair of rods onyx currently host in a frogspawn and rbta. They mainly enjoy the frogspawn but have noticed them hosting a lil more in the rbta these last couple days.

Here's my pair, just took these pics today. Sorry to let you guys know but I've got the best pair of clowns that ever came from Rod's (I'm not into the misbarred, even though some are cool).

Hope the pics don't come out to big. I've been slacking on the maintenance so I'll be cleaning it up this week, got some supplies from the drs. coming in.

G 13 your clowns are amazing perfect examples

Thanks, I also have a pair of black and white occelarius in my 45 gallon tank, female is about 3.5" in size and the male 2". Hopefully I'll be upgrading (at least 180 ga) to a larger tank this yr and will try to keep both pairs. My female onyx is just under 2" and the male is just over an inch.

very nice, wished something available now. nothing ready until 3 months. G13, can you PM me how much you paid for your pair as i like traditional clowns better too.

im going to guess that G13 got his clowns back when rod used to hold on to them longer and charge 70 instead of 50 for a younger clown

also you got to pick them out i think im going to take a weekend in chicago next time i get a pair. i want to see the shop and pick out my own clowns

2-4 months He should have some ready. Unfortunatly he has a bit of a line in front of me. I will try to get a pair next time he has some ready. These onyx clowns are in high demand right now. Seems every body wants a pair. BTW neat shop he has set up. Worth checking out next time in the area. Dont forget GSMguy, he is in DeKalb, IL. It's over an hour from Chicago. Just so u know.

When I purchased them, they were both VERY small. Female at most was slightly over an inch and the male was not even an inch. As a matter of fact here's a pic....I posted them before, just in case the pics look familiar.

This is when I was acclimating them into their 10 gallon home.

And this is them in my tank.....Female (TOP) had no third stripe but was dominant from the get go. You can see the male had a white spot starting to form, so I knew he would be a very good chance at getting the full 3rd stripe, which he did.

I got the best price on these fish I really don't think anyone could have gotten a better price. I got them for FREE! WOOHOO!

It was my birthday so my gf paid for them.............WOOHOO!

Rod did have many to choose from and was very good at actually catching the ones I wanted. There were hundreds of them and it was very hard to choose. I was looking for the smallest ones possible with the most black between the 1st 2 stripes. Also looking for the start of the 3rd stripe. When I seen the male, I just had to have him. As for the female, I had a hard time, not many were smaller then the first one I picked so I decided to get one that was slightly bigger and she looked the healthiest (fattest and bossy, not to mention a lot of black).

By the way, I bought them in early June of 06. Forgot to ask Rod how old they could have been.
