This thread made my search for a special clownfish stop in its tracks. I immediately fell in love with the pictures and Rod's fish look so beautiful and healthy! I'm just starting a saltwater tank and I actually emailed Rod a few questions before actually purchasing a pair.

I have to say, GSMguy, the fish in your avatar is absolutely gorgeous!

they are great fish if i only had one pair of clowns it would be rods hands down. even when they dont develope true onyx markings they are the nicest looking percs i have seen.

did you order a pair?

I especially love the fact that they are tank bred. I'm looking for a quality breeder that knows where their fish come from and Rod couldn't fit that search any better.

I didn't order a pair yet, still waiting for an email response to my questions. My tank is still in the process of cycling, so I'm just making sure that my parameters will be alright for the new arrivals.

i think it will be a few weeks till he has babies ready anyway :) best to give your tank time to cycle before you add clowns.

Then that sounds perfect! Do you know when the newest 'batch' were hatched? I think it's great that we can have an actual birthdate (or estimate, anyway).

Yep, just want to make sure they will be happy campers in my aquarium.

rod knows he took a short break so the ones he has coming now are still pretty small

Oh, alright. Would you happen to know at what age he starts to sell them at? Also, are they easier to take care of when older (or age shouldn't matter)?

I think he sells them around 6-8 mo. if you are wanting a pair then younger is better. If you just want a single fish then age wont matter.

Thanks for the answers! Still deciding on whether I want a pair or single fish, but that helps out a lot.

I've found that it's better to make a call and discuss with him your questions as he doesn't always have time to answer emails. Last I hear was 3 or 4 months, the younges ones will be ready. Right now, I believe they are about 3 months old, not sure.

Yes, sometimes it's better just to call Rod as he can be very busy!

I'm heading down tonight and I will try and get some photo's of the batches he currently has there.
