Rod's Onyx

Alikat- I have progression pics of this clown on this rods thead here. The clown was a year old end of october beginning nov. so its about 14 months old now.

All of my clowns get frozen cyclopeeze & rods food mainly 2 or 3 times a day. They also get thera A pellet (crushed for the little guy) & mysis a couple times a week. This clown pictured above really likes nori also.

I think feeding multipul times a day helps them develope better... oh yea, my cyano likes it too lol
 
my clowns love the nori chunks in the rods food, they dont eat my julian sprungs sea veggies flakes though.

im sure the nori in rods food tastes like rods food though ;)
 
he is in Dekalb Illinois and his prices vary depending on age and coloration, but my pair was $100 plus shipping
 
I just got off the phone with Rod,he has a VERY limited supply on hand,he said his best are gone,he just has alot of not-so-colorful clowns on hand.That kinda sux,he said he's having a bad season.
 
BADGUS - You should really go out there and check the clowns. I picked up a nice little pair. They are bigger in the picture than real life. Really tiny young guys, but already displaying that onyx coloration.



 
Mojo, great avatar, I always take a couple seconds to enjoy that before reading posts, haha. Um question, why do your onyx's only have one stripe? Do all percula's start like that and grow them in I guess??

yep they develop the stripes slowly.
 
it was a sad day for me on monday i sold my system and the clowns they will be missed ....they were just to small for my main display but they went to a good home and are getting alot of love and care
 
sad day for me today. ive had my pair of onyx since october 2007 and i wake up today to find the male had gotten sucked up by the maxijet. must have broken his spine

looking at pics of everyone elses, it looks like my male was a runt. he was very scrawny and his face seemed flat and could never bite onto flakes, had to feed him cyclo and really try to crush up the flakes

the other one is really large and strong, great coloration. hope i dont lose her

anyone know when Rod will start selling again? i imagine in fall?
 
Rod is selling now,, Mojo's clowns above are similar to what he is selling


hearing about your losses makes me nervous, I have become quite attached to my fish

is he selling any with more color? i think theyre the 75 dollar ones. the female right now has her third stripe coming and has black on her fins. the black had really spread on her

i was really attached to them too. will having her alone in the tank make it stressed out since it doesnt have anyone to beat down on?
 
that sucks to here at leaste i know mine went to a good home .....sorry for your loose ...im going to be getting another pair in thr future but now im going to get rid of my darwins as well and getting a lineatus wrasse and well be getting some piccosso

I got some of the smallest and younger ones he had. He did have older clowns. It was just personal taste for me.
