Rod's Onyx

Devilboys tank is pretty open but there are spots where they could hide from the flow. I think they are going to be ok but i would hate for one to get tired out and hit the overflow.

Thats actually what i have done after talking to Rod. He told me it would be fine to turn off my 2 Tunze 6045s and just leave the return and the Seio running. They are just wiggling in one place real fast. Dont look like they are breathing heavy. But when i came home from work this morning my moon lights were on and they were swimming freely all over the tank. so maybe it has something to do with the light. I havent had the tank lights on since they arrived. Maybe just the normal daylight could be scaring them

also i cant see any reason to keep the lights off, turn them on so the fish get into a sleep/wake schedule.

Starting tomorrow i will start my light schedule. I still need one more timer for my other halide. So i am going out to Dans and getting that and will pick up some of Rods Food when i am there.

i just got a pack last week and it has some monster chunks in it, you should defrost the chunks and crush up the big pieces for your lil fish.

can you only buy them in Pairs or singles from rods?

I saw you wrote that your's costed you 100$ for a pair plus shipping

or did you get the 50$ Onyx...twice then GSM?

my octo 100F HOB skimmer has a siphon overflow that I had a surface skimmer on.. I thought it was pretty well protected until I found one of my Rod's in the inlet chamber... must have been some kind of ride! I freaked out when I only saw one clown in the tank until I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Mine are developing quite a bit of black considering they were the $25 variety for not having any. I'll have to try and get some good pics although my camera isn't all that hot, not to mention the little guys NEVER SIT STILL!

yes 2 50 dollar ones is what i ordered.


you can buy them as a single but the shipping around 55 dollars so at that price its worth it to get 2.

i love being in illinois and just over an hour from rod if i ever want a pair its not that big of a deal. But with gas prices going up it might even be cheaper to ship them the one hour ride.

I paid $70 for the pair i got. But as you can see from the photos there is not much black color to them. And they are only 1/2". I did forget to ask Rod when they hatched. I hope he didnt ship them too young.

nah, he would never ship them if he didn't feel as though they were ready to go.....if they were he'd have you wait.....or not have sold them in the first place....

yep i agree, they are not too young thats what mine were like when i got them but mine were a lil older as they were the end of a batch not the beginning like yours. you just got some of the youngest clowns he will sell but they are ok, the swimming action that looks like wiggling is really good for them, and at this age in the Wild they would be swimming in huge tidal currents...

You mean Rod starting to ship again? I would say yes since DB just got his up there. Then again not sure how many he has in stock? Why not get some and let us know

Sorry, but I am out of onyx clowns. My pair is still breeding. I hope to have more ready to go in 4-6 months.
