just got a pair of onyx percs from rod's that are about 7 months old approx how long does it take for them to get that awesome jetblack color we all love?

it'll be a while probably like 5-6 months... also his female looks kinda wierd, her eyes even pop out kinda scary.... flat head not my style!!! male looks nice though

I gotta spawning pair of these and they are the nicest clowns i have. the temperament in them is great. my other clowns bite me all the time.
they are the cutest babies too. hehe i got like 250 babies. im feeding the crap out of them and i am gonna see how long it takes for them to darken up. so far its been 2 months and they are orange with their single stripe by their heads so far. they are on otohime b2 now and maybe switch them to cyclops soon.

Here are my 5 onyx when they first arrived in September 2008.
I still remember the morning I waited for FEDEX and the truck arrived. I looked at the bags and said to myself "***! I just paid close to $400 for these?" Lol, because they were so small and it looked kind of sad.
But when I poured them into the foam box and acclimate, it was love at first sight.
I'm not really sure how old they were, but just based on what I read about Rod only ship out his clowns after 6months or so. I was quite happy with the colors of them for a 6 months old clowns.
Notice the massive RBTA mountain behind them? Yeah....
November 2008. This was what happen after only two months in the RBTA. All the black was pretty much gone. I was very upset and sold all the RBTAs(more than a dozen of them) at a steep discount.
After selling all the RBTA in the tank, I was nemless for awhile. The clowns were hosting in the frogspawn above, goniopora, ricordia, clams, and basically anything soft in the tank.
After about out of the RBTA, the clowns gained their black.

Fast forward to April 2011. They are in the gigantea anemone most of the time. I like these pictures because of the clowns contrast against the red haddoni.

Nick those pics are awesome. I got a couple babies from Rod a little more than two weeks ago. They are incredible. So much so, my wife even commented on how nice they were.
It's good to know that they will host a Haddoni. I have access to a beautiful green one that has acclimated well to aquarium life. While I would prefer a Gigantea, I just can't find one.

Resurrecting a older thread, but I'm sure many enjoyed this one and won't mind. I just recently lost my female clown and currently am looking for a replacement. Of course an Onyx is the top of my list. However it seem's as if these things are impossible to find. I've checked most major sites, even searching for SI True Perculas with no luck whatsoever. If one of you guys could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate the help.
