Rod's Reef and his idea of so-called "Customer Service"

<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=7849040#post7849040 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by glbtrottr
Sarcastic? Hardly! Rod's a fabulous guy. His definition of customer service based on everything we've ever transacted, talked about, or done is so far out of anything I can imagine.

Rod happens to have a lot of friends that he does business with. I find that remarkable.

People buy from people they like and trust.

Rod goes way above the call of duty - always - regardless of how busy he is.

My post, my title, intent fairly plain. I'm a big Rod fan - generally a hard and demanding customer.

We all have Rod's back here, and I think I remember him mentioning you actually flying out to see him from naperville! But yeah I think we all freaked after reading the title....

Ah. Doctor Ostrow just brought something to my attention that apparently wasn't as clear in my post.

"Rod: "err..hmmm...would you mind if I did it another time? I won't have time to before I leave. I don't want sound like a complete ****off, but My brother's cancer just got worse, and (several details omitted on this post intentionally ) I just need to meet him and get over there..."

My entire quoted conversation was a quote. That's how it went down. The details ommitted were about his brother's condition - ommitted precisely to be sensitive.

Rod said exactly that. We do funny things while under stress...

How anyone could possibly think of him as a jerkoff for having to leave his store early due to family issues is ... unusual to me.

Rod's awesome. Even if I'm cut off from buying corals until my tank matures a little more. :)

My misunderstanding came from the "so-called Customer service" statment in the post subject line. The "so-called" expresion in my understanding is most commonly used as a derogative adjective in this case "so-called customer service" = "intended but not achieved" or "called so but not true".

Here's a great idea -

FORGET ABOUT IT! :eek2:

We all know what he wanted to say

I don't think you could find anyone on here that would have a bad thing to say about Rod

So lets get back to talking about fish, and corals, and ....
:D

Rod SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's crabs in his acros and bugs in his sand!!!!

His corals have fish pee on them too!!!! :frog:

Update:

Rod's back in his shop, working and ready to entertain customers, and is okay with my sharing this with the group. Give him a call and drop by...

His brother is still in the hospital, his condition as tentative as a perforated lung with cancer can be. Rod's in as good a spirits as one can expect.

What's difficult about this is that anyone who knows Rod knows that he is big into wrestling, and this one brother was his wrestling partner. Needless to say, Rod is very close to him.

A developing friend sent a PM to me that explains the title to my post:

"People get so used to hearing about good experiences w/ Rod, that they may be inclined to pass up a thread that reads "Rod's is the greatest!" (or something to that effect), b/c they already know that Rod rocks."

New batch of RodOnyx babies just born. Reserve them while you can. :)

disclaimer: I have no financial interest in Rod's Reef, and did not stay at the Holiday Inn last night.

Is it possible those "bugs" are amphipods or copepods? I've never had a problem with Rod and he deserves all the respect in the world for doing what he has been doing...

I am at the shop, but hours will still be very hit and miss.

Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts. I must say, that when I first saw this thread, and with the mood that I was in, I was ready to jump down someones throat, but then seen who the poster was. Dont give him too much greif. He meant well :).

Lynetteww: Ed was just trying to make light of the situation with a sand bed joke. Bugs are very benificial to a sand bed and Ed knows that. He also realizes the importance of a good acro crab :)
