im the guy dominic from aquarium center called for today,i checked skimmer,everthing seems fine,water level,tube line inside ,impellor,everting seems ok,first in the clear airline inside the skimmer,seems to be some white stuff,this normal?the skimmer has great foam when u take cup off,i have blue screw out almost all the way,now the foam rises then drops and so on,seeming to work its way to the top,but it takes awhile,is this normal?im only gettin like 2 to 3 hundred miili litres every couple weeks?everything seems ok though,i can pick up skimmer by air tube,bottom plates on ,no pinched line?maybe thats how its supposed to work,but on my tunze nano skimmer.foam rises up and into the cup right away?

Every tank is a bit different in what it generates and I would normally expect a bit more than you are getting but you might make a big improvement just by cleaning the cup every week. If you get say 200ml the first week and then it slows it is just the normal build up of fats on the cup that is breaking the foam so if you cleaned it more often you could collect 200ml or more every week. I know my home 9010 will skim 100ml or so in a couple days and then the skimming declines so it takes 4-5 more days to collect 100ml more and it gets progressively worse. In general the more you clean the cup the more you collect, one week is a good practical period between cleanings but every 2-3 days would be better. I think everything is technically correct but I know from my own bad habits that if I wait a month to clean the cup, no further skimmate will be collected than I had 2 weeks ago and after I clean it, within 2 days I will have a substantial amount. The 9015 the foam has to rise quite a bit higher so it definitely takes longer than on a 9002 for skimming to start.
