rollie pollie

i just put a friend's clam into my tank, and on the side of it's shell i noticed a "rollie pollie" like critter on it's shell...i hope it's not a parasite...it has the shell of a rollie pollie, but a has a purple skirt around it embeded into the shell...ne1 know what this is???btw this is on a 8inch squamosa

Just be sure it isn't one of the bad isopods. They can look like a rolly pollie, and they like to snack on fish!

But it does sound like a chiton.
