Room for Tomini Tang?

Hey all,

Hey everyone,

I have a 6' 155g Bow front mixed reef. Upgraded from a 75g back in January, everything has been going pretty well with it. Here is my current stock list:

Current fish:

Kole tang
Yellow tang
Flamehawk
Firefish
Bicolor blenny
Melanurus wrasse
Christmas Wrasse
1 chromis
2 Picasso clowns

Everyone is getting along well, with the Yellow Tang as the undisputed tank boss.

I posted a while back as out adding a Blue Throat Trigger and thanks to some great feedback I decided it wouldn't be a good add to my tank, mostly for space and bioload reasons. I've also been tossing around the idea of copperbanded butterfly but have concerns about the yellow tang stressing him out when I add him.

I'm thinking of a Tomini Tang now... Is a 155g bow front big enough for 3 tangs? How about another smaller tang? Bristle tooth? Mimic tang?

Looking to hear thoughts from anyone if you guys have them.

Thanks in advance!

The kole or yellow or both may become aggressive on introducing another tang. Best to remove them to a holding tank for a few weeks and introduce them and the new tang at the same time. If possible, rearrange the rock work a little as well. Adding another tang to the 155 maybe pushing it anyway.

It's really hard to say as all fish are different. But you are dealing with aggressive fish so anything you do is a crap Shoot. If you get too much aggression do like Don suggested and you can also try a mirror. It does work most of the time with aggressive fish.

If you noticed your yellow is the dominant one the thing is going to eat to grow and then likely go bizzurk if you add another tang lol Sounds funny but it's actually true. It probably tolerates the Kole right now and would likely rip a Tomini up. That's actually going to be the case with anything from the Ctenochaetus or Zebrasoma family. Naso would likely be a safer bet, but they're probably still going to go at it at some point. You're kind of limited in the tang area with the yellow running things.
