Rose Tip problem

I am having a small issue with my rose tip that has me concerned. About a month ago a friend came over and handed me a bag with a rose tip nem in it. Apparently he had had it in his tank for about a month and it wouldn't attach to any of the rock. He gave it to me to give it a try so I figured why not. After a couple of days in my tank it attached but not for long. It moved several times and never stayed in any one spot for more than a day. About a week ago it FINALLY attached to a spot under an overhang in my rockwork. Each time it attached before it would open up about half way but ever since it attached in its present location it has not opened more than a little bit. Anyone have any idea as to what would cause this behavior.

I check my parameters twice a week and nothing is out of the ordinary

Ammonia=0
Nitrites=0
Nitrates= <20 I can never get this to read 0
PH= 8.2 on average, However it did drop to 7.8 about two weeks ago but has since returned to normal.
Calcium= 450ppm
Phosphates= 0

I have tried feeding a couple of times and it will not take anything I have tried. ie silversides, krill, mysis, brine. I've kept nems before but decided to focus more on corals so I haven't had one until now.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

First thing to stop doing is trying to feed the nem. They don't digest food when their foot is not attached. What kind of flow do you have in your tank and what kind of lighting do you have?

I already stopped trying to feed it. I really didn't want to stress it any more than it already looks like it is. After about three hours of reading i'm thinking my lighting isn't going to be sufficient. Its a stock 28 gallon JBJ CF quad so I don't think the lighting will be sufficient. I'm thinking the nem will probably be going to the LFS.
