Took some pics of the tank before i started the buffing today. Should have it all buffed out by tomorrow night.

Going with the 8 footer, nice! Your 200 looks awesome! Your switching from halides to a PM and I switched from a PM to halides and couldn't be happier. Any reason for the switch?

Im keeping my current tank running. This will be a completely different build. I use (3) 250W MH now, and your right, its great. I use the PM on my frag tank and the colors are super sweet. So i was going to experiment with trying to grow some of my frags into colonies using the PM. This new tank has a very short canopy, so a PM fits great. My current tank has a custom canopy that i built for MH. Im excited to see how the PM does. I lit the tank up just to see, and i think its going to have sweet colors...just need to see if i can get the PAR i need.

Started drilling the tank for the CL today. Im going with (6) 1.5" holes for the returns, and (2) 1.5" holes for the feed. All the holes are layed out and i started drilling em...but ran out of power! Plan to finish up the CL holes this weekend and the last round with the buffing solution.

Hey Brian, this one will be more of a "fish" tank, with more of a "mixed" reef feel to it. I went with the 8 footer so i could house more fish, and keep them happy. Heres the prelim fish list:
Borbonius anthia ( in my current tank )
Yellow tangs ( in my current tank )
Kole tang ( in my current tank )
Achilles tang ( in my current tank )
Sohal tang
Magnificent foxface (had one for many years )
Melanurus wrasse ( in my current tank )
Hawaiian flame wrasse
Lytail anthias

Need to add some more schooling fish. What would you recommend??

There are a lot of nice Cardinalfish is out there right now. Some are ahrd to find but DD usually brings in a nice selection.

BTW do you still have the Solomon PM?

Picked up the pipe and fittings today. Heres a few shots of the progress so far. You can see the sch 80 bulkheads for the CL, overflows, and the return. I plan to use 1.5" spaflex for all the plumbing, including the CL and the return.

Picked up a new sump today, 48" long, 16" tall, and 18" wide. Plan to drop in two baffles and drill one hole and we should be up and running. The sump will have 3 chambers, first will have some rubble rock, the second will be the skimmer, the third will feed the return pump. The BK SM-200 requires 10" of water, so thats why there will be a third chamber, to keep the water level constant at all times.

Had to make a change to the sump plans, the stand is not really tall enough to house the complete sump and allow access to the skimmer. I decided to mount the sump perpendicular to the stand. We built a kickout to support the sump which will make accessing the pump and skimmer much easier. I will get some pics of it in the next day or two. This will also make it easy to access the Cl pump, and give more storage space under the tank. With the sump out of the way, it allows a single shoot for the Cl with equal length veins feeding the bulkheads.

Okay, got sidetracked. Found AEFW in my display and had to use this setup to QT my acros. Things are looking better, and the corals are being moved back. I plan to get the build under way again. I will be updating more this week.
