Rovster's Custom Reef Savvy build......FINALLY!!!

What are you using for alk testing ? Did you hear about the issue with Hanna ? I was using a bad batch and was getting a 7.1 then tested with Red Sea and got 10.1

Danny brought this to my attention a few months back. I tested new batches of both every other day. By mid second week, hanna was reading unexpectedly low, Salifert not. I have since stuck with Salifert. I will continue doing so until Hanna staightens out their issues.

Hanna has admitted an issue. I love my Checker, but cant switch back until its resolved.

I agree. I hope this new batch will be resolved. They told me over the phone when bottle is laying on its side the plastic ring on the cap come in contact and compromises the reagents. So they are using a different plastic ring to keep this from happening. I think from now on I will not keep reagent in the case and I will keep it standing up just to be safe. If this does not work I will be posting the Hanna on eBay.

They give it to you in a container that sets it side ways. As I stated before. Hanna needs to settle their issues before I go back to them.

Little mini update. I finally got the additional T5s up. Rack came out much better this time and no more zip ties to hold it in place, it bolts directly to my existing Radion rack. I noticed that the back of the tank is much better lit, as I had a lot of flat looking corals back there. We'll see what kind of impact this makes. Only issue is I need to extend the wires so the ballasts are hanging kind of short.

I'm running front to back:
ATI Actinic
B+
Coral+
B+

Another combo I'm considering is:
B+
Giesemann Aquablue Azure
Giesemann super purple
B+

Haven't tried that one yet but I have the bulbs on hand along with some extra B+.

I'm also considering installing some wide angle lenses so I can drop my rack closer to the water to get more punch from the T5.

Rack made, I had to be careful drilling the holes, thankfully everything lined up perfect!

From afar...

This is a TON of light:D

Nothimg looks as good for sure

LOL Matt, I think you've posted that in my thread before. What bulbs are you running? I thought you were running all B+?

All blue +....colors and polyp extention couldn't be better

Have you posted any photos of how your tank is doing? I saw it once awhile ago when you were just transitioning to reef from fish only. I'd love to see the progress on that amazing machine you have.

Thanks I'm loving the added T5. I'm running the B+ and Actinic for about 5 hours (same as the B+/C+ before) and the B+/C+3 hours for now. I also raised my fixtures about 2-3 inches. Curious to see what things look like in a month. I'm hoping my stags in the back start to really show some improvement. They grow awesome but have crappy color....

I'm really interested to see what the added bulbs do for the colors as well! I hope it works out, even though your stuff is pretty awesome already. [emoji1305][emoji1305][emoji1319]

Not much to update. I had a tiny alk slip when I changed the lights but caught it early so no harm. I did have 1 piece RNT which sucked and totally unexpected. Most things are growing good now. All my stags just woke up, and a few others are really starting to take off. Color is not as good as it was before all my issues as well as PE, but I'm happy that for the most part things are healthy and look decent. I definitely notice the difference now that my alk has been reasonably stable for a few months with only one blip when I went to Disney, LOL! I also have a bunch of anthias in QT that are doing great. I added a spotbreast female angel and My PB beat it up the first day but now its settled in. I'm a little worried about the anthias in QT with my PB as I'm pushing the fish stocking limit of my tank but I just can't help it. I NEED a bigger tank soon, LOL! Maybe next year;)

Angel seems fine. I actually lost the male in QT. Was doing great and then one day just went south. Honestly I think it was a latent response to an overdose in medication. Sucks because the meds were prophylactic. Seems like an easy species. Too soon to tell about the lights. Although, I have to say I love the B+ and Actinic combo when my Radions are on a blue setting. Very relaxing and its a very "soft" blue. I also like full on. I'm hesitant to throw the Aquablue Azure and Super Purple on just to not mess with things. I did raise my lights like 3 inches but I'm going to work on lowering them soon. I just extended the time on my actinic and B+ bulb to 7hrs yesterday, and the other 2 are only 3 hours for now. I still feel like my corals want more light though. My pink lemonade continues to grow upwards and its looking funky as heck. I really think its reaching for more light. A few of my other pieces are dong the same but I'm going to take it slow on this round. I have to say my red planet and xmas mirabilis are in a race now and both are sprouting new branches left and right. I know I promised some pics soon, maybe this weekend. Been super busy last 2 weekends.....

Tank lools nice rov. Show some macros , dont be greedy. Btw, still looking for the asd rainbow? I got one few weeks ago, and its growing fasttttt. Should be able to frag it in a month or 2
