Rps-3000

Anyone have one of these? I am getting a new skimmer for my new tank setup and I would like to know the quality/performance. I am leaning towards one of those or the MRC MR-3R (using BL-55 and approx 825 shipped). I am aware that the electricity costs are different and well cost but i am more interested in quality.

BTW this is on a 180 with 100 stock tank, 30 fuge, and 20 frag setup (approx 300 gallons total system

Thanks anyone that knows the best route to go.

Are you meaning this skimmer?

I so I have that skimmer on about 180G total. All the octos are well built. I love this skimmer but for 300G heavy stocked I would go bigger.

Like this

or even the one that tinytool got.

Dead stock they will still skim circles around the MRC for less wattage but if if you mesh mod them they can hold there own with anything.

The first skimmer I linked to is the same EXACT skimmer from a different importer for $170 less. I mean exactily the same. That $170 is pacfic coast imports cut.

Brad has the three pump model, not me. I do however have the 150 recirc and it is an awesome little skimmer. I think the 300 would work good on a ~280 total volume but you could always put down a little more and get the 3 pump model and never have to worry about it again and stock the tank like mad.

They seem to change the names on these all the time, I'm always getting them confused. I would spend the $700 and get the 3 pump (38w) with the 12" tubing. I believe this is the one that brad has. People are obsessed about these skimmers and the mods that can be done on them. definitely the best skimmer for the money!

That's funny-

I'm buying Hung's 180 (backroom)
I have a 100g stock tank (filling ever so slowly!)
I have a 30g fuge...

Looks like I need a frag tank - 21gallons! :D

Just kidding.

Hmm really? Damn i never knew. So tinytools is good for 300?

BTW whats the main difference with this one:

vs

Also anyone have any experience or issues yet? I am worried about the pump "hang on" style breaking the joint with the body (does this make since?)

Anyways thanks for your help covey and keep information coming

1st. skimmer 2 big pumps on a 10" body
2nd skimmer 3 medium size pumps on a 12" body

If you got it go big. FYI there is a 16" dia 4 big pump model too!
Just incase you go nuts. Its still under a grand.

Check E-Bay........I looked at a few before I bought my pc-3000 and was surprized at it's size, haven't got the tank stocked yet but I think it will holds it's own without a problem, especially after the mod

I'll take a pic of it later......it's at least 8 inches.......your just trying to get a sneak peek of my new setup in action

Not my thread, but I think I am sold on this one for my new fish tank project.

Thanks for the research and information Covey.
