Rps-3000

Thats the other one i w as llooking at. I am happy that the pumps are NOT dangling so to speak from the skimmer body. I am VERY worried that the stress overtime will break them.

And no thanks to the 7000.00 skimmer lol

Oh come on guys someone has got to get the big mother:lol:

16" body 6" neck 4xOTP3000!

The triple model does use the smaller otp-2000 pumps so the are not hugh pump hanging on the body. The plus side of that style is the get rid of that elbow NWs never work that well against back pressure.

Covey whats the difference between:
http://www.marinesolutionsinc.com/c...c-Dual-Pump-Needlewheel-250/product_info.html
and
http://www.aquacave.com/detail.aspx?ID=1015

There is approx 100.00 difference in price.

I am going to order one of these today if can figure out the differences.

There is not difference other then price right? If not I am ordering the one from Marine Solutions tonight.

Same thing as the skimmer at the begining of the thread. The chinese company that pumps these out never really set up a strict disturbution system.. Some go thru multiple middle men some don't. So the price varies alot. Marine Solutions directily imports them to the best of my knowledge so the price is generally pretty good.

One warning. Marine Solutions has also been known to backorder the Octo and not tell anyone. Then they get vauge on when they will get more. So I would call and talk to a human when ordering. The website doesn't keep up on there back order status.

Did you end up ordering one? Don't you love the price of fabricated acrylic!! :D

Curious as to whether or not you considered AETech ETSS downdrafts? I just bought one here rated for 220 gallons and as I mentioned my volume will be almost identical to yours. I'm going to post in a general forum and get everyone's views on suggested skimmer size versus total system volume. My thought is my display will only be 180g and the rest of the volume is mostly for dillution, therefore do I need to worry about skimming 300g or just the 180g that's creating the waste?

Also, I've been searching for an ETSS since going to Shedd aquarium in Chicago last June as that's what they're using.

Really?

Hmm...I don't have mine set up yet but it seems that people either love them or can't get them to skim.

According to their site, your's is rated for 240-300 gallons with the right pump.

I'm sure you've read the pdf

http://www.superskimmer.com/Library/Oper-InstrETSSTotal.pdf

And the skimmer math page

http://www.superskimmer.com/skimmer_math.htm

I didn't realize you had that skimmer and it should be enough for what you're trying to accomplish...hopefully these skimmers aren't crap!!

Mine may be a combo of how i had to set it up and a combo of the pump i am running Iwaki 40? and i can never get it to skim well enough. Also i noticed that if i clean the tank it loose foam head REALLY fast and takes AGES to come back. Once again this may be a combo of setup and all. I have no back pressure so i know trhats not causing it
