RR TECH tanks? /Oceanic questions.

I would go by the brochure, I just left a VM for a sales person @ AGA/Oceanic.

BTW Oceanic Just confirmed to me over the phone 3 sides of starphire.

btw my LFS hooked me up with a 10%discount I think.
He quoted me $1100 for the 45 cube, stand, coralife Aqualight pro, and sump. The 120 with those items was $2100.

That company is soooo incompetant.

I called them this morning when I posted and they said 100% only the front is starphire. I then told them that was a direct contradiction to what their tech support said last week.

The tek tanks have starphire only on the front panel.

Yeah that is what she said on her VM. Oh well, they need to get there facts straight on the borchure. I am not upset about it though, since I assumed it was only the front, then heard it was 3 sides, and saw it in the brochure after I bought it. The other 2 sides wouldn't matter since the tank will only be seen from the front panel. Kinda sux though.... oh well.

No matter what they tell you ...it's the 3 sides... you can easily tell that by looking at the pics u posted.... see how the carpet and wall look the same if u look through the front + right side of the glass... now look at the carpet through the front + bottom pane and u can easily see the difference....

well I look and that does make sense, and you can tell a difference, but could it be because the bottom is 3/4" and the sides are 1/2"? I just measured the bottom through the overflows, and it's about 3/4" (kinda hard to see exactly what it is) the side are (at least the front pane) is just a hair shy of 1/2" So could that be the reason of the color difference? Tell you what, I will go take pics of the sides and bottom for comparison. Brb

I'm disappointed that Oceanic Systems stopped using tempered glass on the bottom of their aquariums. I have a 2004 Oceanic Reef Ready 75-gallon Megaflow tank with 1/4 inch thick tempered glass on the bottom. The bottom tempered glass is thinner than the 3/8" vertical glass. I believe that tempered glass can reduce the weight of a tank without sacrificing strength.

Nevertheless, I envy your aquarium. It is simply beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful.
One question about the overflow.
Is it double walled (Inside weir) so that it has intake slits at the botton like the AGA's? I look real hard and I dont see any. How does anything ever get picked up from the bottom?
