RR TECH tanks? /Oceanic questions.

No it's not double walled like the mega flow AGA's. I am planning on having alot of flow inside the tank, so i am not to worried about stuff settling on the bottom.

it does not pick up from the bottom, only surface water, which is what you want anyways because that is where most of the DOC's are.

when the tech tanks 1st started showing up, there were 2 versions. 1 with 3 sides of starphire, and another with just the front as starphire. I believe that is still the case. also, i thought I had heard that the oceanic standard tanks were now only have starphire fronts on 90 gal tanks and above.

I havent heard anything about two different versions but I know my 45 is 3 sided starphire. Theres a noticeable difference. After my first experience with Oceanic http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1018434 I wasnt risking another one that wasnt built with thicker glass. My 45 uses the same thickness as the 120 so its a very heavy 45 gallon tank.

The overflow boxes are not like the AGA Megaflows. These do not pickup water from the bottom, middle and top like the Megaflows do. I find my overflow box to be loud and I have a Mag 3 turned down so Im probably only flowing about 100 GPH. I cannot get it to quiet down.

I wouldnt put much weight in anything an Oceanic employee says. After dealing with them for over a month getting my money back on the first tank, it seems nobody knows what they are doing. A few people I spoke to hadnt even heard about the Tech Tanks and this was many months after they came out.

AFAIK, the Tech Tanks come with the overflow kit. Mine came in the tank which was sealed. They all should also come with an overflow box cover. Mine was left out but Oceanic sent me one.

Has anyone got a price on the 75 or 90 Tech tank?

I'm not sure if they make a 75g. I think they are all 24" tall and the 18'" wide ones come in 45g (2' long), 70g (3' long), and 90g (4' long).

I just ordered a 70g from a LFS for $490 and I had a quote on a 90g for $660.

hmm, I need to contact them then. Mine didn't include the overflow kit or the overflow box cover... I would assume the 120 should have those included as well.....
