OK. I thought I would have time to work on this more this weekend, but my recovery is kind of getting in the way. I tried taking several photos but alas my battery had run dead, and the camera reset itself, and so all the pics of my skimmate and stuff like that all came out way too dark to see anything. By the time I fixed things with the camera I had cleaned my skimmer, so those pics will have to wait.
Basically, I'm really pleased with the Red Sea Max. It just has sand and rock in it right now. The rock is not aquascaped yet -- just sitting there getting used to the water. Just kind of chillin', really. Biding time waiting to the diatomaceous bloom that will inevitably come. I still have to get some critters in there (clean up crew), and then some corals and stuff. I'm planning on this being some acans, some slow growing SPS, like the blueberry polyped danae and my torts (cali, oregon, atlanta, ora blue, miagi), some rics, and some rarer zoos. That's the plan, anyway.
The tank is thought out really well. It has a built in power center with a light timer for the lights and moon lights. It comes with a heater, a skimmer, 2 circulation pumps, and a nice, neat place for everything to fit. There are access doors for power, for the skimmer cup, for feeding/topoff water/testing. It has wells that capture evaporated water around the skimmer cup and send that water back down into the tank. It is a marvel. I turned on the skimmer the day I put the rock in. There hasn't been much die off, but the skimmer has been running great and is very quiet. I'm very pleased with this thing.
So now to the 2 pics I was able to get
