RTN confirmation, please?

You know, I'm starting to edge toward the idea of just keeping what I have alive, and not add new stuff. There are quite a number of colonies and frags growing and I'd love to see them really get large, and by not adding more livestock it helps avoid the chemical warfare / territorial issues.

That doesn't sound like the positive attitude of a man throwing anything he can find into a blender and calling it fish food!

Of course your tank is well populated and some of the corals could get VERY big if you let them. Just like me putting in ricordia though, sometimes you just find something you love. Many mushrooms including ricordia excrete substances that limit the growth of other corals and in particular SPS, so someone interested in an SPS biotopoe really shouldn't introduce them. I am not one of those people...

I took a peek last night after lights out and found the rics folded up, hanging by their foot, and even one had slouched down over that yellow sponge. When the lights came back on all was like it was the day before. Kind of like they are sneaking around at night! But as you said that sponge may not look healthy, and it may be becuse the rics are giving it a hard time.

The way I look at it, is sh*t happens in the wild and it will happen in our tanks too. Sometimes in our tanks it gets out-of-hand because of the low water volume, but that's life in the reef hobby.

Cheer up Marc...have some more chocolate! Tell me what kind you like...we have over 300 top-line chocolates in our store including single source bean chocolates (which is kind of like single malt scotch). I'll send you something that will cheer you up and put you into orbit!:D

Had this same thing happen to what I thought was an established colony of mine several months ago. What I really don't understand is how quickly the frags seem to go, even when they're cut well away from the necrotic tissue. The GOOD news though is out of the five frags I made, one did survive and is still with me today. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input, as always. I think the weather is too hot to ship chocolate unfortunately, but I can get it locally, even if it isn't single-malt. ;)

Weather is NOT too hot. We typically vacuum pack our chocolate and ship with ice packs if needed or by over-night carrier.

Check out our chocolate page and tell me what you want. I'll take care of it...it's the least I can do for how much help you have given me and my sincere appreciation for the semi-commercial (j/k) podcasts!

If you don't, you're a chicken Marc! You don't want to see posts that consist of nothing but

do you???

We have the best marzipans that can be imported. The Carstens Luxury Marzipan from Lubeck is my favorite, although a couple from Norway are really good too. The cat tongues are new and I haven't tried them yet. Nidar is a good quality brand and the Wendler Nougat Baumstamm bar has multiple ingredients including marzipan and will send you into orbit. That is one smoking bar!

Seriously, there isn't a bad chocolate in the lot but be careful about the extra darks because I have found a couple of the South American ones to be on the dry side. Good quality but kind of a dry finish. Some people prefer that but I like a rich creamy finish....droool...damn, now I have to go in to the store and raid the shelves!:D

Where's your request??

I will 8th (or 9th or 20th, whatever it is) that it is a classic case of RTN. There are so many variables that can lead to RTN but, IME, in most cases, once a coral has reached that point, there is a very small chance of saving any of it. What I would do in your case is try to spread the frags around to different parts of the tank. This way if there is something they aren't liking about that particular location, there are ones in other locations that still have a chance.

i stupidly put a neon green sinularia i fragged in my tank the other day, i dono why.

Anyways i had an SPS coral (micropthalama i believe) RTN, with in 24 hours of doing that.

Never had an event like that before, so the moral of the story is no more angry slimmy green sinularias in my SPS tank.

Bond007069, sinularia don't belong in SPS tanks. Sorry you lost that piece. :(

Thanks Travis. I really should have done that, but I just put them all on one rock and back in the tank.

I don't even know where to start with that list. Give me some time, I have the tab open to it in my browser. ;)

Well darn, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on Prodibio tomorrow. Now I'm feeling a bit unsure. Fortunately I haven't heard of many suspicious cases like this or the other one you mentioned.

Has anybody else heard of any problems that might be related to the introduction of Prodibio? Realizing of course there is no real way to pin down cause and effect at this point.

Brad, since I'm testing Prodibio in my tank, I'm just reporting what is occuring. It could be unrelated - that is unknown.

Wow, really doesnt sound like the probidio as youd have much more corals doing that I would think. Although the way its looking your going to gain a few pounds figuring it out, lol. I prefer dark myself. Chocolate that is. I looked at your site and your tank has come along beaufifully. I have been using something callled marine tlc, I think I mentioned to you a while back. Sounds like a similar product.

WOW, I LOVE Dark chocolate, I sort of live on it. I'm deff not "skerred" and will be placing an order! Any recomendations?
