RTN ... is it contagious?

I have found 3 of my colonies this morning (after killing the lights for 48 hrs) that have started RTN.
i have never delt with this before!
it wiped out a football sized colony of blue birdsnest in 24 hours!!

do i need to worry about this spreading? should i get rid of all colonies affected?

i think the jury is still out on that particular question, i think it really depends on why the coral is RTN'ing? I've heard it said that it can spread from colony to colony, but i've also heard that no one knows exactly what causes a specimen to RTN, so there's no saying for sure if the RTN itself spreads, or what's causing the RTN on multiple specimens is just going to cause the RTN on other specimens as well.

Maybe i have outdated information though? Interested in others responses...

Were you killing algae? 2 days of no lights can change your PH. Maybe those 3 colonies already had issues and became more stressed. Check parameters and do water changes.
